PING introduces Rhapsody series for women
January 12, 2015 – Promoting and growing women’s participation in golf has been a decades-long endeavor at PING. Founder Karsten Solheim and his wife, Louise, were dedicated ambassadors for women’s golf at every level. In 1975, PING was the first club manufacturer to be the title sponsor of an LPGA tournament, The Karsten-PING Open. Fifteen years later, Karsten and Louise created The Solheim Cup.
Along the way we’ve engineered many lines of PING technology to get women of all abilities enthused about playing and encourage more ladies to take up the game. The latest is our Rhapsody club family, offering innovations that make golf easier and help women fully enjoy their time on the course with friends and family.
“Based on our studies of women’s swing dynamics, we engineered the Rhapsody series with a lighter overall system mass, higher lofts and optimized lengths,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “As a result, women will have an easier time getting the ball airborne and hitting it straight, and that’s going to improve performance and inspire confidence.”
The Rhapsody series is custom-engineered to maximize distance and forgiveness, especially for slower swing speeds. Players who generate faster clubhead speed might find the optimal fitting solution in one of our other product lines. As the leader in custom fitting, we encourage players to visit an authorized PING club fitter to determine which product family provides the gateway to lower scores and a deep, lasting enjoyment of the game.
