ClubCorp’s Woodlands Country Club Welcomes Champions Tour Insperity Invitational
Unveils Phase One of Multimillion-Dollar Reinvention Project
DALLAS, April 27 2015 – The Woodlands Country Club, a member of the ClubCorp family of clubs, unveils phase one of a multimillion-dollar reinvention project, just in time to welcome the Champions Tour Insperity Invitational April 27-May 3. ClubCorp – The World Leader in Private Clubs® (NYSE: MYCC) – which now owns and operates 19 clubs in the Houston area, is spending more than $8 million on the project, designed to enhance daily life for today’s private club member.
Just-completed improvements to the Tournament Clubhouse include new furniture and fixtures at the grille and refreshed patio with updated lounge and fire pit. Additionally, the newly renovated Champions Locker Room features a theme in recognition of past tournament champions. At the Palmer Clubhouse, a new resort-style pool experience with cabanas, new pool furniture and family features is set to be complete in late May.
More extensive renovations slated for completion in late 2015 include a complete reinvention of the Palmer Clubhouse – stylish new dining amenities and media area with big-screen TVs; elegant private event space; and refreshed outdoor dining area with fire pits and new media area. The renovations also include an improved golf experience with new short game area at the Tournament Course, and throughout the three golf courses, updated tee amenities and new golf carts.
“We are proud to now have The Woodlands Country Club in our portfolio of clubs – especially this weekend with the 8th anniversary of the Insperity Invitational being held at the club and so many legends from the game participating,” said Mark Burnett, ClubCorp COO. “We want to create that same sense of pride in belonging for members and have found that reinvesting in our clubs adds more value and translates to a more active membership.” Since 2007, ClubCorp has spent more than $480 million at its clubs on reinventions, renovations and improvements with a goal to make them more vibrant and relevant in their communities.
“The members are very excited about all of the renovations taking place at the club,” said Bob Lewis, chairman of the club’s Board of Governors. “The Woodlands Country Club already serves as a centerpiece in the community, and these improvements are going to enhance that role with the members using the club more often and bringing their families and friends.”
“The Insperity Invitational is once again proud to be hosted by The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course,” said Bryan Naugle, executive director of the Insperity Invitational. “The Tournament course is rich in tradition of hosting professional golf. It is always in superb condition and is always a great test for the best players in the game. We look forward to tournament week all year.”
Additionally, ClubCorp is spending more than $3 million on renovations to several other Houston-area clubs including Hearthstone Country Club, Willow Creek Golf Club in Spring, April Sound Country Club in Montgomery, The Oaks, Panther Trail, and Lake Windcrest Country Club in Magnolia, and Magnolia Creek Golf Club and South Shore Harbour Country Club in League City. Houston-area clubs that have completed major renovation projects in the past few years are The Clubs of Kingwood in Kingwood, The Club at Falcon Point in Katy and The Houston Club downtown.
